Valentijn van den Heuvel

As a true Gen Z filmmaker, Valentijn van den Heuvel grew up in the online world with social media, smartphones, and a constant information overload. This inspired him to experiment with film, but also confronted him with the negative consequences of this era. He moves across directing, camera work and editing, but always circles back to the same thing: giving a platform to underrepresented themes and starting a conversation that wouldn't otherwise happen. Societal issues are where he's most at home. The result: intimate, documentary-like films that feel less made than witnessed.
